We are all ordinary people,
But even an ordinary secretary,
Or a housewife,
Or a teenager,
Can within their own small ways
Turn on a small light
In a dark room.
The woman who helped hide Anne Frank
I open the inside cover of one book and I write:
I want you to know you are a good man.
I am thinking of you and your family.
I place the book in a bubble mailer, address it to the State Penitentiary and I drop it off at the post office.
On the way home I pass a Whole Foods store.
And I smile.
It has taken me all of my life to realize my goal in life is not to look successful to the world but to be significant to a few.
